Potential Sewer Line Issues
If you are experiencing sewage backups, bad smells, slow draining, or wet spots in your yard, you are in need of our Redding plumbing service! Sooner is always better when it comes to addressing plumbing issues. An expert opinion can often provide a quick fix that prevents more serious damage in the future. Any of the signs listed above could be an indicator that your sewer line is damaged and in need of immediate repair.
Some common forms of damage that can impact sewer lines are:
- Cracks, often caused by shifting ground or severe temperature changes
- Blockages, such as a buildup of grease or other material preventing proper flow
- Root intrusions that damage lines
- Corrosion and deterioration of the pipe, prohibiting flow or causing collapse
- Leaks when the seal in joints between pipes has broken, allowing water to escape
- Bellied pipes, or sunken portion of pipe that collect a buildup of waste materials
Understanding the Two Types of Sewer Repair
In traditional sewer line repairs, our Redding plumber uses a backhoe to dig a trench to expose the main sewer line or we may need to use our sewer line camera to see what the problem may be. After the damage to the line is located and fixed, the backhoe refills the excavated area. While some clients shy away from this option as it requires portions of the yard to be disturbed, it is very effective and may be the only option if large portions of the sewer line need to be replaced.
A camera can be inserted into the line to inspect the internal problems and craft an effective solution. If the line appears to be blocked, we can quickly and effectively clear it. If the pipe is broken, we can insert a new pipe directly into the old one that expands, bursting the old pipe completely, and leaving a solid new one in its place.
